Zwar waren in der Spitze die Ausschläge nach oben weniger heftig als wie letztes Jahr, die breite Masse an guten Alben bringt mich aber dazu im direkten Vergleich 2006 höher zu bewerten als 2005.

35 Jahre nach dem Original zeigt sich wie zeitlos die Musik und aktuell die Themen Krieg, Armut und Rassismus in den USA immer noch sind.

@Dawson: Kommst du bei so vielen Alben eigentlich überhaupt noch wirklich zum Hören?!? Oder hast du dir deine Meinung über die einzelnen Platten schon nach lediglich 2-3 Mal Hören gebildet? Ansonsten kann ich mir nämlich nicht erklären wieso bei dir Alben wie "9" oder "Buchstaben über der Stadt" weniger Punkte erhalten wie ein Justin Timberlake oder Gnarls Barkley...

Okay, dann will ich auch mal mein persönliches Fazit ziehen, auch wenn ich sagen muss, dass meine größten Neuentdeckungen in Sachen Alben fast alle noch aus dem letzten Jahr stammen... Aber nun ja, wir haben 2006.

Damien Rice - 9 (weil IMO schlicht großartig)
Robin Thicke - The Evolution of Robin Thicke (weil schon längst überfällig)
Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia (weil unvergleichlich, auch wenn mir das Debüt noch mehr am Herzen liegt)
K-OS - Atlantis - Hymns of Disco (weil Meister des Stilgrenzen-Überschreitens)
The Kooks - Inside in / Inside out (weil voller Ohrwürmer und wahnsinnig launesteigernd)
Phoenix - It's never been like that (weil sie sich weiterentwickelt haben ohne ihren einzigartigen Stil zu verlieren)
Aberfeldy - Do Whatever Turns You On (weil herrlich unbekümmert und leichtherzig)

Wobei diese "Enttäuschungen" eigentlich alle lediglich darauf beruhen, dass ihre vorherigen Alben teilweise zu meinen absoluten Favorites gehören. Und vergleichen sollte man da ja eigentlich nicht...

Das letzte Album, in das ich mich hineinhören musste war glaube ich John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" vor über 3 1/2 Jahren.


Und Futuresex/Lovesounds und St. Elsewhere sind aus dem einfachen Grund vor 9 und Buchstaben über der Stadt weil sie IMO besser sind!
Die ersten 2/3 von F/L sind z.B. das progressivste was im Mainstream Pop in den letzten 5 Jahren abgeliefert wurde.

Das letzte Album, in das ich mich hineinhören musste war glaube ich John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" vor über 3 1/2 Jahren.

Ja, das hab ich mir gedacht, dass du so denkst. Wobei ich das absolut gar nicht unterschreiben kann. Bei Tomte musste ich mich erst reinhören, weil ich keines ihrer vorherigen Alben kannte und mich einfach mit dem gewöhnungsbedüftigen Gesang anfreunden musste. Aber um das "Reinhören" an sich geht es mir eigentlich gar nicht. Ich finde, man kann ein und dieselbe Platte je nach Situation, Gefühlslage, Erwartungen etc. vollkommen anders wahrnehmen. Manche Alben mögen vielleicht beim ersten Hören noch gefallen, aber nach paar Durchgängen findet man sie nur noch langweilig, weil man einfach nichts Neues mehr an ihnen entdecken kann. Das war bei mir zum Beispiel bei Gnarls Barkley so. Ich liebe "Smiley Faces" und vielleicht noch ein, zwei weitere Songs vom Album, hab es aber schon seit Ewigkeiten nicht mehr gehört, weil es sich schlicht "ausgehört" hat. Andere Platten kann man dafür jahrelang hören und findet immer wieder Kleinigkeiten, die einem vorher noch gar nicht aufgefallen sind, weil man vielleicht auf etwas ganz anderes fixiert war. Man entdeckt vollkommen andere Seiten. Das ist wie beim hermeneutischen Zirkel. Aber ich schweife eh schon zu sehr in OT ab. Wollte eigentlich nur sagen, dass bei manchen Bands/Künstlern einfach mehrere Anläufe nötig sind, um ihre gesamte Herrlichkeit und Tiefe erleben zu können. Tomte und Damien Rice sind da für mich extrem gute Beispiele. Ein Justin Timberlake mag noch so progressiv sein, seine Musik hört sich für mich aber nach dem dritten Mal Hören ganz genauso an wie nach dem fünften oder sechsunddreißigsten.

Aber letztendlich ist ja alles nur reine Geschmackssache.

Das ist ja gerade das gute daran. 'My Love' beim 36x Mal Hören noch genauso sexy wie beim ersten Mal.

Some people still get gassed that we like Justin Timberlake, as if there were some honor in denying good songs. But Timberlake is the new King of Pop, and just like the old King, he’s not scared to sing like a girl as long as his tracks are thrillers. We appreciate him for that, for taking the throne and working with producers who take risks and constantly surprise us.

Despite leaking as the worst mp3 ever, "My Love" felt like an instant favorite. It jolted us so much we gave it a five-star review after some wishful (but futile) EQ'ing. Days later, usually fussy DJs played it in clubs, and some smart guy made t-shirts that said, "Atlantic Records for T.I. Clearance," the vocal stamp on the leaked track meant to discourage pirates. Maybe they were being ironic, but we like to think not.

The thing is, "My Love" wasn't made to please hipsters or blow up the internet. Timbaland, and his unsung protégé, Danja, wanted to make the song of the year and got us by default. Their audacious synthesizer fury turned JT's little valentine into sentimental napalm. You want his love? You're melting in it. Yes, T.I. called himself "candle guy," but "My Love" still won, proving that even the coolest artists (and coolest songs) don't have to always be so cool. --Peter Macia
