Day 1: NBC

Bionic Woman - Start: 26.09.
I've gotta say, i didn't think this would be that good, but it actually delivered. It didn't have the effect of something like the pilot of Lost, but by the end of the episode, I was definitely ready to watch some more. Casting is half good/half bad. But I'll reserve final verdict until I see a few more episodes because, obviously, it was focused on setting up who the Bionic Woman is. Overall, I'd give it a B+/A-


Life - 26.09.
This was easily my favorite of the day. I'm not a big fan of procedural dramas, but this worked. If you haven't heard about it, it's about a cop who was wrongly imprisoned for murder for 12 years. DNA evidence proves he was innocent and he's back as a detective. But the catch is that prison made him...quirky (that's the best way to describe it). I don't remember the guy's name, but he played the lieutenant on Band of Brothers, the red headed guy. He was GREAT. It needs work, but I'd imagine that after a season, this thing will be cookin'



Day 2: FOX

Journeyman - 24.09.
My absolute FAVORITE of the day. It needs a tiny bit of work, but it WILL work. This guy uncontrollably travels back in time and must help people out in the past so that their future will be changed. but it doesn't always work out for the best. and it looks like his dead fiance (who apparently never really died), is coming from the future to tell him who to save. sound weird? yeah, but don't worry, this thing got the only ovation of the day. i really really liked it.



Day 3: ABC (Buena Vista/Disney)

Carpoolers - 02.10.
A sitcom about four guys who ride in a carpool together. I'm telling you, the show is was about 24 minutes and I think I was literally laughing out loud for about 20 of those minutes. This is the first time that I can say I may have found a replacement for Arrested Development. Absolutely hilarious. Perfect casting, perfect characters, near perfect writing.
MUST WATCH #1


Dirty Sexy Money - 26.09.
MUST WATCH #2. We watched this first this morning. It's a dramady about one of the most disfuctional famillies i've ever seen. Peter Krauss stars as the lawyer for the richest family in New York. This family is FUCKED up. I mean REALLY fucked up. I was laughing most of the show. It is awesome. just awesome.


Eli Stone - Mid Season
The only "procedural" of the day. Johnny Lee Miller stars as a lawyer who has everything he wants. One day he starts hearing music in his head. Next thing you know, he's in the middle of having sex and hears George Michaels singing "faith". He goes into his living room, and there is GM singing. Anyway, it turns out that Eli has a brain aneurysm and it's giving him flashes of how he can "make a difference" in peoples' lives through the law. He is basically a prophet (it'll make sense when you watch it). Not a perfect show, but has MAJOR potential. I give this a MUST SEE #3, but it's tentative until i can see more.


Reaper - 25.09.
MUST SEE #4. Needs work, but it had me rolling quite a few times. A kid finds out on his 21st birthday that his parents had sold his sole to the devil before he was born. the devil, played flawlessly by Ray Wise, comes to collect and tells him that he has to be a bounty hunter and send souls that have escaped, back to hell. Another Dramady, but focuses on the comedy. Really quite funny, but i don't know if it will last.



Day 4: Warner Bros.

Pushing Daisies - 03.10.
MAJOR potential. this thing is weird, wacky, quirky, yet kind of annoying. if you haven't read anything about it, here's a quick rundown. basically, a guy find out that if something dies and he touches it, it'll come back to life. the catch: if he touched them again, they are dead forever. when he touches people, they will come back to life for one minute, if he doesn't re-kill them within the minute, someone else in close proximity will die. Ned (the main character) and another guy decide that they will collect rewards for murders by touching someone that has been murdered, find out who killed them, and the touch them again. but when Ned's childhood sweetheart dies, he touches her to get the reward info, but then can't bring himself to killing her so some other random guy dies. now ned and his girl (played by the AMAZING anna friel), have to build their relationship without touching ever again. VERY GOOD. stylistically, it looks very much like burton's Charlie and the Chocolate family. vivid colors, wacky locals, quirky characters. the only downside is that i think it will get annoying that these two can never touch, it could get old. i actually felt like it would've been better as a mini series. however, the more i think about it, the more i think it will work. MUST SEE!

The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Januar
if you like the terminator series, you'll like this. it sets place in the time between terminator 2 and 3. sarah and john are on the run while the fbi and another terminator hunt them down. however, a female terminator is sent to protect them. i had high hopes for this, and while it looked good, i can't see it being a smash hit past a season or two. great pilot, high production values, and pretty good entertainment. we'll see on this one.

The IT Crowd
We only got clips of this because they are going to reshoot the pilot this summer with some casting changes. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed, and I really wanted to like it. We'll see.

Lipstick Jungle:
This written by the same people that did Sex in the City. Overall, it wasn't horrible for a chick drama. Brooke Shields was by far the worst part about it, even though she's one of the three main characters. They really tried to set it up as three women down on their luck and they went overboard.

Women's Murder Club:
I loved it. Angie Harmon and the rest of the cast were great. Basic premise is that a bunch of high powered women have this club where they share information (before giving it to the men) so that they can solve crimes and prosecute quickly. May sound stupid, but it REALLY worked. Unfortunately, Fox has it going at 9pm on Fridays, which means they either don't have faith in it, or they are going after an older female demo. Anyway, i liked it a lot.

The Return of Jezebel James:
Parker Posey in a sitcom? No. this thing was HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE. they used a laugh track that was pretty much constantly going and i didn't see one audience member even chuckle. this show will not last.

New Amsterdam:
Bascially, it's a crime drama with a touch of Highlander. This guy has been alive for about 400 years and will be until he finds his soul mate. well, in the pilot, it looks like he finds her but then loses her in a crowd. has potential, but i'm still on the fence. oh, and the casting isn't very good.

Back to You:
Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton play news anchors in this sitcom. it's ok. i'm sure it will be successful, but it's not really my cup of tea, i prefer comedies like arrested developement. fox is really banking on this being "THE" show of the fall for them, so we'll see what happens.

K-Ville:
Another crime drama. again, i'm not a huge fan of the genre, but i liked this. it's set in post-Katrina new orleans. very gritty, very violent. felt like it should be on TNT or FX. i'm not sure how much staying power it will have, but the pilot was fun.

The Rules for Starting Over:
This is much more to my comedic liking (and rashinda jones from the office looks GREAT). just kind of an oddball comedy about a bunch of 30 somethings. pretty good characters, i'll definitely check this out for a few episodes.

Army Wives:
Female-ish drama about what it's like to live as an army wife. Not horrible, not great. I honestely don't think it will last long, despite a pretty good cast (led by Kim Delaney and Catherine Bell)

Cavemen:
ahhhh yes, the Geico cavemen. let me wrap this up quickly...HORRIBLE

Greek:
Bascially, a geeky kid goes to college and decideds to join a fraternity. Not great, but i laughed a bunch and it has a little potential, but not much.

Miss Guided:
Only got 4 minutes of this one. Not much to say, it's about a high school counselor who's all fucked up. oh, this is a sitcom.

October Road:
Typical drama, not much going on. It's about a guy who comes back to his home town after ten years. i didn't really care for it but Laura Prepon looked good.

Private Practice:
Only saw clips of this grey's anatomy spinoff. if you like grey's, you'll like this.

Sam I Am:
I wanted this to work, but it was pretty boring. Christina Applegate wakes up from a coma and doesn't remember anything about her life. she learns that she was flat out mean and evil and starts to change her ways. whatever, not my cup of tea.

Gossip Girl:
This is basically the OC set in new york. it is all about the crazy lifestyles of the new york social elite in high school. drugs, booze, debauchery, etc. and all of the activities are posted in a blog by the mysterious "gossip girl" (kind of like a perez hilton type blog.) i didn't really care for the show, but if you like the OC or your are young, you'll pobably love this show. they also showed us what the have planned for an online component. they have made a sim game that allows the viewer to create a sim and immerse themselves in the show's world. in addition, you can go online while watching, purchase the outfits they are wearing and download any music you hear in the show. from a purely business standpoint, it will be really interesting to see if the WB vision is adopted. if it is, it will be HUGE. but again, i didn't really care for the show.

Big Bang Theory:
Typical sitcom. it is kind of a scripted version of beauty and the geek. two complete MIT geeks that live together have their world turned upside down when a HOT girl moves in next doo. it had funny moments, but as i've said before, i don't like studio based, static camera sitcoms that much. the audience laughed a little, but overall, i don't know how this will do. has potential, but i can't see myself getting hooked at all.

Big Shots:
This is, quite simply, desperate housewives for men. it was ok, but i didn't really dig it. the problem is, it's a soap opera. men don't really watch soap operas, generally, and women won't relate the way they do for housewives or even sex in the city. it's a good cast, but i found myself just not really caring about it that much. i'm sure it will last for a little while, but i probably won't be watching.

In "The Return of Jezebel James" werd' ich mal vor allem wegen Lauren Ambrose reinschauen, aber die Previews bzw. Trailer haben mir nicht sehr gefallen.

Michelle Ryan als Bionic Woman - die totale Fehlbesetzung. Weder Spannung, noch Sympathie werden im Piloten vermittelt.
