STEFAN UNCOVERS A STARTLING CLUE TO THE PAST -- Damon (Ian Somerhalder) takes a trip to Georgia, where he surprises an old flame, Bree (guest star Gina Torres, "Eli Stone") and enlists her help to figure out how to open the tomb. In the process, Damon comes face to face with someone who is determined to make him pay for past wrongs. Stefan (Paul Wesley) opens up to Grams (guest star Jasmine Guy) in his effort to help Bonnie (Katarina Graham) overcome her fears and accept her powers. While researching his history paper in the public library, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) meets a cute-but-geeky girl named Anna (guest star Malese Jow, "Hannah Montana") who has her own theories on the folklore of Mystic Falls. When Damon returns from Georgia, Stefan is waiting with news that will change their world. Nina Dobrev and Sara Canning also star.

THE NEW KIDS IN TOWN / SEAN FARIS GUEST STARS -- As Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) try to figure out the identity of the new vampire in town, Stefan gives Elena (Nina Dobrev) jewelry filled with Vervain to protect her family and friends. Hurting for money, Matt (Zach Roerig) takes a job at the Mystic Grill, where former high school football-star Ben (guest star Sean Faris, "Never Back Down"), works as a bartender. Ben comes to Bonnie's (Katerina Graham) aid when he notices Damon is bothering her. Damon and Stefan accompany Elena to a school dance with a 1950s' theme, where Alaric (guest star Matt Davis) introduces himself to Damon. Steven R. McQueen and Sara Canning also star.

• There’ll be Damon and Katherine kissing action.

• Saltzman will play a bigger role when the show returns; his wife will make an appearance, and may or may not be as dead as everyone thought.
• Bonnie and Elena’s friendship is going to be tested; now that Bonnie is aware of the existence of vampires, is she okay with it or is she going to have a problem with it?
• Damon’s going to continue to show interest in Bonnie for she’s going to be important in getting the tomb open.

MORE SECRETS OF THE SALVATORE FAMILY HISTORY ARE REVEALED / KELLY HU AND JAMES REMAR GUEST STAR -- In flashbacks, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) recall the long-ago actions taken by townspeople including their father, Guiseppe Salvatore (guest star James Remar, "Dexter"), and Pearl (guest star Kelly Hu, "Army Wives"), leading to the devastating events that caused the rift in their relationship. In the present, Bonnie's (Katerina Graham) date with Ben (guest star Sean Faris) takes a frightening turn. Elena (Nina Dobrev) helps Stefan as he and Damon race to find the missing journal that belonged to Elena's ancestor. Stefan learns the reason behind Alaric's (Matt Davis) interest in both the journal and the town's history. Damon discovers that an old acquaintance has returned to town with an agenda he understands.

Executive producer Kevin Williamson tells me that Matt’s trashtastic mother, Kelly, will blow into Mystic Falls and waste no time digging her cougar claws into Ian Somerhalder’s Damon. [...] “We’ll reveal that she was friends with Sheriff [Elizabeth] and Elena’s mother,” he says. “The three of them were really tight friends back in the day. Sheriff and Kelly, in particular, have ongoing issues to deal with.”

McQueen) asks Anna (guest star Malese Jow) to a party in the woods, unaware that she has her own reasons for wanting to meet him there. When Stefan, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena work with Bonnie and Grams (guest star Jasmine Guy) to open the tomb, everyone is shocked by what they discover. Candice Accola, Zach Roerig and Michael Trevino also star.

EW verschafft uns den ersten (kleinen) Ausblick auf David Anders als Elena und Jeremy's Onkel, Jonathan Gilbert.

[Anders] makes his debut in the April 15 episode when it comes time for Elena and Jeremy to sell their father’s doctor office. “He has to sign the escrow papers but he isn’t quite ready to give the office up,” explains fellow e.p., Kevin Williamson. “But like everyone else in town, he’s there for something [else]. His intentions are not pure.”

Williamson: Uncle John [David Anders] comes to town for one reason and then you slowly start to realize he could be there for another. He has a hidden agenda, just like everyone else in town.
Plec: He's stepping in to fill the shoes on the Founders' Council, with there being a lack of Gilberts representing the founding families. Uncle John gets in there to stir things up.
Williamson: One of the surprises is that he shows up, interestingly enough, just after that tomb is opened. How convenient.

Maureen in Baker, Nev.: Waiting for a new episode of Vampire Diaries is the worst. Can you help me pass the time with some scoop?
We're about to become very familiar with a creepy new vampire, says show runner Julie Plec. "We'll meet Harper, the character coming out of the tomb in the last episode that aired, and follow him on his journey as he sets up shop in Mystic Falls and who he sets up shop with." As for Damon and Stefan, Kevin Williamson says, "They're going to find some common ground and build from there." Unfortunately, their distressed brotherhood won't work itself out overnight. But they've got time, right? They're vampires!

Jackie in Seattle: I love that David Anders just jumps from one of my favorite shows to the next. What do you know about his character on Vampire Diaries?
As always, David Anders brings the bad. "He surfaces when it comes time to sell [Jeremy and Elena's] dad's doctor's office, but he's [really] there because he wants something and he'll fight to the finish to get it," says Kevin. And speaking of Jeremy, tough times are ahead for the brainwashed brother as he continues to unravel the truth about vamps in Mystic Falls. "Jeremy's storyline is a big storyline and takes him to a really dark place," Julie tells me. David's character will also serve as a guide on Jeremy's journey.

Ja, da bin ich ganz deiner Meinung. Zumal Stefan Lexi gegenüber sagt, dass er besser kein Menschenblut trinkt, da er dann womöglich nicht mehr damit aufhören kann. Offenbar weiß er sehr genau, dass er damit Probleme hat.

Ja, vorallem spannend wird es, was Damon dann tut. Ob er die ganze Sache auf seine gewohnte Art einfach nur amüstant findet oder versucht seinem Bruder zu helfen. Weil mal ehrlich Damon kommt mit sich selbst was das Vampirdasein angeht wesentlich besser klar. Er tötet Menschen nicht, weil er die Kontrolle verliert sondern weil es ihm Spaß macht...

Also die Bilder zwichen Damon und Elena sind doch ziemlich eindeutig....und Elena sieht nicht wikrlich glücklich aus....
hmm aber ich glaube nich das Damon das so zu seinem Vorteil ausnutzen wird, wenn Stephan wirklich Menschenblut trinken sollte...ich mein er ist nich mehr der Bad-Boy der er mal wahr...auch wenn er deswegen keienswegs gut is...aber man merkte auch in 1x15 das Elena ihm schon was bedeutet

John Gilbert (guest star David Anders) attempts to intimidate Damon, but his plan doesn’t have the desired effect.
