Ich bin total begeistert von der gestrigen Folge. Manchmal war ich echt geschockt... Aber ich mag das. Das braucht man mal im TV. Und ich mag die Aufmachung mit der Veranschaulichung der Gedankengänge der Charaktere und die In-Weiß-Tauchung des Bildes, wenn es Rückblicke oder Werbespots gibt. Diese Werbespots waren einfach genial! 
Die Charaktere gefallen mir bis jetzt auch ganz gut (am besten gefällt mir David *ggg*). Mal sehen, was es noch für Entwicklungen gibt.
Ich musste übrigens die ganze Zeit über an meinen Religionsunterricht in der Schule denken, in dem wir mal das Thema Tod, Auferstehung, Hoffnung etc. hatten. Da hatten wir ein Schriftstück, in dem sich die ganze Bestattungs-Zeremonie, besonders die Szene, in der alle im Raum mit dem offenen Sarg sind, die in Six Feet under abläuft, ziemlich deckt. „Der Tod in Amerika“ von Joachim Besser (glaub ich... beim letzen Buchstaben ist gelocht worden
) beschreibt, dass Bestattungen in Amerika tatsächlich so ähnlich ablaufen. Dass der Tote unbedingt so lebendig wie möglich aussehen soll, damit man ihn als Lebenden in Erinnerung behält. Und dass häufig Leute kommen, die den Toten gar nicht kannten. Dass man sich wie auf einer Cocktail-Party vorkommt... –Das macht die ganze Folge eigentlich ziemlich traurig und noch makaberer, weil nichts übertrieben wurde, sondern einfach kritisiert. Nennt man das Sarkasmus?

Der Darsteller des Frederico (Diaz) heißt Freddy Rodriguez, zuletzt gesehn in Good Advice.
Er ist sicher der interessanteste Charakter der Serie der kein direktes Mitglied der Familie Fisher ist.
Mir gefällt seine Haltung gegenüber David nicht, als er diesem SPOILER seine Sexuelleorientierung gesteht, aber das kommt erst später heraus.

Umfrage "Six Feet Under"
Hey!
Ich bräuchte mal eure Hilfe und dazu eure Antworten auf einen Fragebogen. Ich belege nämlich gerade ein Seminar zum Thema "Six Feet Under" und dazu befragen wir Leute nach ihren Ansichten zum Thema Tod und Beerdigungen. Es wäre echt nett, wenn sich ein paar von euch bereit erklären könnten zu antworten. Ist ein Seminar in Anglistik,aber ihr könnt auch gern auf Deutsch antworten. Wenn jemand Problem mit den Fragen hat,kann ich sie auch gern übersetzen!

Identifying the body, getting an undertaker to take care of details, organizing a grave, casket... deciding on what to write on the tombstone ... stuff like that I guess.
2. What should be included in a death notice in a newspaper?
Personally I don't want to have a death notice in a newspaper. Generally speaking the name of the deceased, birth date, date of death, date of funeral, details about a possible wake after the funeral ....
3. What should be said at a funeral and by whom?
The priest usually talks about the deceased, his life and that's it... I guess. Haven't been to that many funerals in my life.
4. How would you describe the most important features of a cemetery?
It's a quiet place, hopefully with lots of nature around it.
5. How would you like your funeral to be and why? (Text, setting, music etc.)
I'd only want a small funeral with the closest family / friends present, nothing fancy. Not too many flowers and stuff (instead donations for worthy causes). I know I would love to have contemporary music played during the service, something like "Say goodnight" by Beth Nielsen Chapman, I don't actually care about the setting, actually I haven't decided yet if I'd want to be buried or rather have a cremation.
6. Do you think death is handled well in Germany?
Since I've only been to a couple of funerals I'm not sure if I'm an expert here, but nevertheless I guess they are handled okay. The open casket is something very common in the US that isn't really that common here in Germany. Maybe that's something that could be introduced here more often.
7. Have you seen changes in attitudes to and rituals around death? If yes, have they improved or got worse? Explain.
The only changes I've noticed is that death more or less has become an industry or a business rather than a ritual.
8. In what ways do you connect death and money?
Death is expensive. Some peoples funerals cost more than other people earn in a month. So either you're prepared for that or not, I guess.
9. What words or expressions would you use to describe death and dying?
"Den Löffel abgeben"? Sorry I don't have an equivalent english expression for that.
10. Are you afraid of death or dying? Why or why not?
Why should I be afraid of it? It's a natural thing that will happen sooner or later in everyones life.
11. Have you had any personal experience with death and dying? How did it affect you? Both my grandmothers were taken care of by the family and both of them died peacefully in their sleep after some time of intense care. Both experiences were in no way frightening, it was obviously the natural order of life.
12. If you were dying of a disease would you want to be told?
Of course I want to be told - the sooner I know the better I can plan the last days of my life and the funeral. I'd be really pissed if my doctors would keep this kind of information from me.
13. If you only had one day left to live, how would you spend it?
Assuming that I'm aware of this being my last day I guess I'd give out an order to have a tree planted in my name, call the people I love to say goodbye, depending on the weather I'd certainly try to spend some quality time outside, and I guess I'd stay up as long as possible, have some drinks, eat as much good food as I can so that I'm really exhausted and then go to bed - I'd love to die while I'm sleeping.
14. Do you believe in life after death?
I'm pretty sure life on earth isn't everything the universe has to offer. There's something more to it. What exactly I have no knowledge of but I'd love to find out one day.
15. Could you imagine practising euthanasia?
I certainly am a big fan of self-determination. If I'd a painfull illness I'd definitely want to decide for myself how much pain I'd want to endure.
16. How do you react to the idea of suicide?
I do think that there are reasons (e.g. an illness) for suicide, I also think that some people give in to soon... that if they can bring up the strenghts to commit suicide they could also have brought up the strengths to go on... but I guess this is after all a personal decision and I'd not want to judge people nor their decisions about this subject... I'm not in a position to do that.

Vielen Dank für deine ausführliche Antwort! Ich konnte deine Angaben wirklich gut verwenden,habe das Referat nämlich heute schon gehalten! Ich hatte schon nicht mehr daran geglaubt,dass jemand antwortet,aber es lag wohl daran,dass die Fragen doch sehr ins persönliche gingen und man nicht jeden Tag über all diese Dinge nachdenkt.

Nebenbei bemerkt,es ging um "gender aspects" und es sind verschiedene interessante Dinge dabei herausgekommen, wie z.B. dass Männer wesentlich sachlicher mit dem Tod umgehen können und zumeist auch keine Angst davor haben!

Ich war doch sicher nicht die einzige, die während der Szene im Blumenladen begeistert „Todd!!!“ geschrieen hat, oder?
Und die Story mit der menstruierenden Camperin und dem Bären war ja lustig *löl*
