The show was renewed for a fourth season, which will air in September 2007. For the first time in the show's history a main cast member will not be back. Kate Walsh's character will be transferring to the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice.

Former Reunion star, Chyler Leigh, has been offered a multiple episode contract.[citation needed] Leigh guest starred in the final two episodes of season three as Lexie Grey, a new intern and Meredith Grey's younger half-sister.

Tiffani Thiessen is in talks with ABC, after the cancellation of What About Brian, to guest star as Derek's psychiatrist sister, Kathleen.[citation needed]

While the third season's plotlines leave question to the future of several characters on the show, representatives for Isaiah Washington maintain, "We fully expect to be back in the fall," spokesman Howard Bragman said. "The deal's not done but we have no reason to believe he won't be putting on the scrubs." [9]

In the official blog, creator Shonda Rhimes gave a few clues as to plotlines for season four, indicating that Mark Sloan will be given a bigger role and that the aftermath of the finale events for Derek Shepherd and Cristina Yang will be "interesting to watch."[10]

Although rumor has it that the new season will not begin until November, it is scheduled to start in September.

“I don’t know what all this talk is about – a letter? I’ve never had a letter,” she said. “In the beginning you have to sign [one] of course, but not sort of year-to-year. No one’s told me if I haven’t [been invited back].”

Despite some of the statements, T.R. Knight who plays the lovable George O’Malley said he still isn’t confident of his place on the show.

“That’s not a question I can really answer,” he said. “I don’t know what to say. We’ll find [out] one way or another.”

Auf mich wirkt Knights Mimik richtig spitzbübisch, als wenn er es genießen würde, mit den Journalisten zu spielen. Ich denke er ist sicher mit dabei und das alles ist nur eine Inszenierung für die Medien.

überlegt euch die storylines mal genau. christina spielt nun meredith
ihr freund ist weg, und nun kommt irgendwas dramatisches um ihr den rest zu geben, und die freunde müssen sie dann aufbauen

natürlich könnte auch alex was passieren, aber ich glaube eher dass er endlich eine gute beziehung bekommt. bei allen anderen ist ja schon irgendwer gestorben.

Ich bin diesbezüglich zwiegespalten. Von der Story her finde ich es sehr schade, dass Burke nicht mehr dabei ist. Der Charakter war eben doch ein sehr wichtiger Bestandteil.

Wenn ich allerdings die ganzen Zwischenfälle berücksichtige, ist es die richtige Entscheidung. Es gab viel zu viel Unmut am Set. Ich glaube, Isaiah's Anwesenheit hat nicht gerade für ein gutes "Betriebsklima" gesorgt, da ist es nur logisch und vor allem das Beste, dass er gehen muss.

da die Burkeudn Cristina Story für zu viel Drama (in meinen Augen) gesort hätte bin ich eigentlich recht froh! Ich war nie ein Burke Fan, abr Burke und Cristina fand ich irgendwie süß zusammen - aber nach der geplatzten Hochzeit sind die beiden auch geschichte!

Und wenn Isaiah wirklich so ungut am Set war, wie alle immer behauptet haben, dann bin ich echt froh, dass er nicht mehr dabei ist! Alles muss mna sich auch nicht gefallen lassen und nur weil man ein "Star" ist mus man andere Menschen auch nciht demütigen, so wie ers eigentlich gemacht hat!
Drum find ihc ide Entscheidung wirklich gut!

Multiple sources are telling me that Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season. An ABC Studios spokesperson confirms that the actor's contract option has not been picked up, but declined further comment.

One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. "There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word," says my spy. "I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that."

Washington's rep, Howard Bragman, confirmed the news, adding that his client was informed by Grey's executive producer Shonda Rhimes earlier today that he was not being invited back to the show. In a statement, Washington, referencing the iconic line from Network, said, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." (He's kidding... I think.)

Plot-wise, it won't be difficult to explain Washington's absence. In last month's season finale, Burke left Cristina at the altar and moved out of their apartment.

Personally, I think ABC did the right thing. As much as I'll miss Burke, Washington's behavior was inexcusable and it was tearing apart the show. But enough about me and my opinion, what do you think of ABC's decision to fire Isaiah? Sound off below...

Das mit Christina und Burke finde ich einerseits gut, weil ein radikaler Schlusstrich gezogen worden ist (nicht so wie bei Derek & Meredith).

Ich würde es sehr begrüßen, wenn Lexi sich übernommen hat und der Job als Ärztin nichts für sie ist. Dann wird sie noch von den Leistungen anderer übertroffen und das macht sie fertig - zack ist sie weg von der Flimmerkiste Ja, ich kann sie nicht leiden - ich mag sie nicht.

Anscheinend werden wir in der Vierten Staffel mehrere neue Gesichter sehen:

Ich freu mich da ehrlich gesagt nicht so sehr drauf, meiner Meinung hatten die schon in der dritten Staffel Probleme die SLs für alle Charaktere unter einen Hut zu bringen. Auf Lexies "multi-episode story arc" hab ich überhaupt keine Lust, mir geht bis heut noch nicht in den Kopf, wie sie so flirtend und fröhlich sein konnte, wenn kurz zuvor ihre Mutter gestorben ist .

Und wieso brauchen sie einen Gegenpart zu Derek, sie könnten doch dafür McSteamy nehmen und ihm eine richtige SL geben?
