SPOILER FÜR SEASON 4

For three remarkable seasons, House has relied on the finely polished interplay between the crass genius, his team, his patients, and the politics of medicine. For weeks now the grapevine has been buzzing with cast changes that seem, from one angle, to point towards House's usual crew of Foreman (Omar Epps), Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), and Chase (Jesse Spencer) either being replaced, or leaving the show altogether. At the House Panel held today as part of Fox's Television Critics Press Tour, new light was shed on just what all this casting means for the format of the show.

The news for those hopelessly addicted to the formula of the show is that they will need to find another vice, and the House team hopes it will be in their familiar territory. The inner dynamic of the unique drama will be eviscerated. In what can best be described as one of the boldest moves in the history of A-List TV, House's creative team will be rolling out an entirely new and drastically changed character landscape for Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) to play on.

If you are worried about losing Spencer, Epps, and Morisson, don't be. They will all return, but they will be drastically scattered away from the center of the season's action. When the fourth season kicks off, Chase is practicing in Arizona with Cameron in tow, and Foreman has moved on to head up his own team at a different hospital.

House will be attempting to go it alone, but it will be Cuddy who convinces him he needs to put together a new team. The beginning of the season will see House auditioning team members. Ultimately House may end up with a larger team. The word from the producer is that they have hired five actors as potential regulars. House will be particularly rough on his new team, referring to them by numbers instead of their names.

The largest risk, of course, is alienating fans who were comfortable with the shows foundation. The obvious reason for this change is to prevent that foundation from stagnating. In the end, of course, it will be the fans who decide if the new formula House is the wave of the future, or if House classic is the way to go.

4:02 pm: Scoop! Jesse Spencer, Omar Epps and Jennifer Morrison will all be back next season. I know this because all three of them are on the panel. I also know this because exec producer Kate Jacobs just said, "They'll all be back."

4:08 pm: That said, Jacobs reveals that when the season starts "House is alone. And House is trying to solve cases by himself. Cuddy insists that he hire a new time. Over the first bunch of episodes, he's going to call in [40 or so candidates] and see who survives. It will be like Survivor." (Click here to find out who survives.)

4:10 pm: On his Emmy nod, Hugh Laurie says he was asleep when the noms were announced last Thursday. "It's a very thrilling way of waking up... It was a happy day."

4:12 pm: Jennifer Morrison is sportin' some serious blonde highlights.

4:14 pm: Scoop! Chase is working in Arizona when the season starts. And Cameron's there visiting him. Foreman, meanwhile, is heading up his own diagnostic team at another hospital.

4:16 pm: Not sure if she was joking, but Jacobs just said she's giving Cuddy "a huge makeout scene" this season. Let the speculation begin!

4:20 pm: Big news! It's time to hand out our third Whatchoo Talkin' 'Bout Willis Award of the tour. The trophy goes to the reporter who just asked the entire cast how they enjoy shooting on the 20th Century Fox lot as opposed to, say, the Universal lot. Specifically, the reporter wants to know if they have convenient parking spaces. Congratulations to today's winner!

4:28 pm: Jesse Spencer is jazzed about the changes in store for Chase this season. "We're not going back in the same capacity. Nothing will be the same [and] that's going to change the energy. It's kind of like we've got a new show."

4:29 pm: Laurie describes the first three House scripts this season as "phenomenal" -- three of the best scripts he's ever read.

4:30 pm: Jacobs says they have actually hired five new docs. "We have deals with five actors that could potentially turn into series-regular deals."

4:31 pm: House won't refer to his new minions by name, but by number. Hey, Gilmore Girls already did that. In Season 6, Paris assigned numbers to all the staffers at the Yale Daily News. AS-P, call your lawyers!

4:38 pm: House's post-Super Bowl episode will be the first of a two-parter. "It's a lot of pressure," Jacobs says of the high-profile slot. "I don't think we'll do anything too gimmicky."

4:41 pm: Emma Thompson is a fan of the show and has expressed interest in guest-starring.

4:47 pm: Gaggle stampede! Robert Sean Leonard is running for his life!

Ich kann es erst richtig einschätzen, wenn ich die ersten Folgen gesehen habe. Veränderungen mussten aber her, denn sonst wird es irgendwann langweilich.

Patient wird aus mysteriösen Umständen krank. House schafft es kurz vor dem Ende der Episode ihn zu heilen. Manchmal stirbt auch jemand. Und dann gibt es diese genialen Momenten zwischen House und Wilson, House und Cuddy, House und Cameron und den übrigen Ducklings.

Aber so genial es auch ist, irgendwann müssen Änderungen her, bevor es zu spät ist.

Obwohl ich denke, dass es bei Cam anders laufen wird, weil wir es ja da schon hatten.

Also...ich versuche jetzt mal positiv zu denken..auch bei all den neuen news...
Vielleicht ist es echt so,dass es im nachhinein mehr als positiv wird? Oder natürlich nicht.Ich bin ja immernoch am hoffen,dass die "neuen ducklings"(wenn man sie noch so nennen kann/will) nach ein paar folgen abgeschossen werden. *evilgrin*

Aber ich weiß jetzt nicht ganz,wie ich wirklich zu season 4 stehen soll.
Ich denke dass die Autoren der Show...naja..schon ein ziehmlich großes risiko eingehen,mit dem Weg,den sie jetzt eingeschlagen haben.Aber werweiß,ob sich dieses risiko nicht im nachhinein mehr als gelohnt hat?

Ich will es nicht zu negativ sehen...dann kann man zwar nur positiv überrascht sein,egal wie Season 4 ist...aber ich glaube ich müsste mich mehr zwingen als ich will überhaupt mir die neuen Episoden anzusehen...
Also,naja..ich bin mir nicht sicher ob ich den Autoren wirklich vertraue,aber...naja...veränderung ist ja nicht immer schlecht.

Okay, ehrlich gesagt, das hört sich jetzt schon merkwürdig an. Vorallem das sie wirklich so dermaßen viel riskieren indem sie es so sehr verändern.
Klar, es waren drei Staffeln wo im Grunde immer das Gleich passierte, aber genau deswegen hatten sie doch zwischendurch auch mehr als 20 Mio. Zuschauer.
Mal sehen ob das klappt.

Kann es sein, dass OW's Rolle vielleicht sogar nen normalen Namen hat und er sie dann aber immer 'Thirteen' nennt?
Na ja, ich glaub ich lass mich einfach überraschen und wenn Hugh der Meinung ist, dass die ersten drei Skripte gut sind, dann sind sie es sicher auch.

Nur kann ich mich mit dem Satz "Chase works in Arizone, in tow with Cameron" nicht so recht anfreunden

Flighty Ducks: Korbi queried about the start of the season, and got great dish from the regulars.

Jennifer Morrison said her character is MIA in the season premiere: "When you come back for the first episode, you don't know where Cameron is, and in the second episode back, you sort of discover where she's at, but I can't give it away."

Foreman, meanwhile, has struck out on his own. Omar Epps reports, “Well, when we start out the season, he’s heading his own team, and stuff happens there.”

Jesse Spencer, thank heaven, actually spilled some details, telling K.G., “House spends the first episode without anyone there—he doesn't have a team, and it takes quite a few episodes for us to come back. And I'm actually hired back by Cuddy, so now I'm not under House anymore. That adds new weight to the characters. I'm in a different position, and House has to come to me if he's got something he needs.”

Does this mean House can't harass Chase quite as much? "Oh, I don't think so!"

All Here: Robert Sean Leonard filled us in on the rest of gang: "I'm still at Princeton-Plainsboro, as is Lisa [Edelstein]'s character, and the ducklings have gone to wing. House needs a new team, and he goes about it in a very interesting way. And I've only read the first three [scripts], but it is great—it's very fun to watch him whittle these doctors down."

Lack of Quack: Hugh Laurie gave us a little insight into Dr. Gregory’s bitter, black heart. When Korbi asked if he missed his “kids,” Laurie admitted, “The truth is, yes, but House being House, the last thing on earth he wants to do is admit it, but yes, I think it's pretty clear that there is a gap...Whether he wanted to or not, he's grown attached to these people."

On the Heart Beat: Korbi did good for those of you who like your docs hot and bothered, asking around about potential romantic developments for the season. Epps wasn’t optimistic at all, noting, “Foreman’s married to his job.“ Leonard was similarly grim: "A love interest for my character terrifies me in anything I'm in!" Last but not least, any chance of House and Cuddy making out this season? Well, the official word from Hugh Laurie is, “ I have absolutely no idea. That file is under lock and key." Damn it!

Einige vermuten ja, dass Jenn damit lediglich meinte, dass Cameron nicht auftaucht ... aber es gibt ja noch die Halluzinationen von House Also sehen wir sie vielleicht dennoch.

Wow, stimmt, so hab ich das noch gar nie gesehen!

Vielleicht hat es auch irgendwas mit dem Patienten und seinen Symptomen zu tun? Möglicherweise hat er nur ein Symptom, dass seine Krankheit beschreibt und deswegen Alone!

Hehe, hab gerade das hier gefunden. Hat zwar jetzt an sich nur indirekt was mit Staffel 4 zu tun ... nee, eigentlich schon.

Die Anworten sind echt sehr 'in-character' und ich hab mich tatsächlich getraut, House ne Mail zu schreiben und ihn gefragt, wann er endlich einsehen wird das er nur Cameron liebt
