Mischa Barton doesn't think she's sexy. The stunning 'O.C.' star says she can't understand why men find her attractive because she doesn't consider herself a sex symbol. Mischa, who is dating rocker Cisco Adler, thinks her curvy co-star Rachel Bilson is far more desirable than her. She told Top of the Pops magazine: "Rachel is way more overtly sexual than I am. I'm so tall and lanky. I think I'd be scared of having her voluptousness. I like being understatedly sexual."
It is not the first time Mischa has played down her good looks. Last month, the brunette beauty admitted hates being beautiful. The actress confessed she can't stand the fact people judge her solely on the fact she has a pretty face and slim body - and feels she would be more liked if she had more flaws. She said at the time: "It kind of irritates me that I'm seen as this pretty face.
"People also say I'm too thin. The truth is pretty people aren't as accepted as other people. It comes with all these stigmas. It's like, 'She's pretty and thin, so she's got to have problems. She must be anorexic or depressed or bitchy.'"

:Just two years ago, The O.C. was the darling of television. Critics heaped praise on the show, while a rabid following developed across all ages.
The show's young cast seemed destined for superstardom as wunderkind creator Josh Schwartz merged good-looking teens, witty dialogue and soapy adult plot lines to create a brilliant 21st- century hybrid of Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. And to top it off, the show was accompanied by the best soundtrack in the history of television, thus making The O.C., for a brief moment in 2004, TV's zeitgeist for all things pop culture.
It was simultaneously teen and adult, smart and fun, campy and intelligent, and a must-see for music fans - in short, the perfect drama.
But perfection was short-lived. The brilliant first season was followed by a disappointing second that tanked so badly the writers attempted a teen-lesbian plot line to lure back viewers.
The O.C. has slipped even further in its third season, languishing even worse in both ratings and cultural relevance. Two weeks ago, the episode ranked 75th among U.S. primetime TV shows with an audience of 5.4 million viewers - smaller than the number of viewers who watched Love Monkey, which was canned by CBS last week because of poor ratings.
The O.C. is becoming just another drama that lacks imagination and relies on guest stars and ridiculous storylines. Gone are the rich humour and convoluted plot lines that once rewarded viewers.
It's not too late to fix the show, but Schwartz and his writers have to do so fast. They should refocus on what made the show popular in the first place: meaningful, adult storylines and loads of time devoted to a neurotic Seth Cohen.
The show's adults - most importantly, Sandy and Kirsten Cohen, the parents of Seth - used to be engrossed in scandal (this show is about rich Californians, after all) while juggling the delicate art of parenting.
In Season 1, Sandy was screwed over in a real-estate deal by his father-in-law Caleb, who in turn blackmailed Marissa Cooper, the brooding but beautiful girl-next-door to the Cohens, to give consent to his marriage proposal to her mom, Julie Cooper, who Kirsten, Sandy's wife, loathed to the bone. The story was multi- generational and ridiculously intertwined, thus providing excellent entertainment for weeks.

Und er ist so wahr. Ich schaue gerade die erste Staffel auf DVD und langsam erinnere ich mich wieder, wie gut die Serie doch war. Die Stories waren interessant, die Charaktere viel echter, und der Humor war großartig. Und in der 3. Staffel? Ich finde die Folgen einfach nur noch langweilig und die Storylines überzogen. Nicht besser als in einer Daily Soap. Wenn die Autoren das Ruder also nicht mehr rumreißen können, dann war's das wohl wirklich mit der Serie. Aber ganz ehrlich? Besser ein Ende mit Schrecken, als ein Schrecken ohne Ende.
Und so wie es momentan ist, wäre es das zweite.

Ich kenne "Love Monkey" nicht, aber die 3. Staffel ist mies. Und ich bin nicht die einzige, die so denkt, man sieht es ja an den Quoten.sternschnüppchen hat geschrieben::<> Wie bitte? Es haben sich mehr Amis eine Sendung namens Love Monkey angesehen als O.C.? Sind die denn total hirnlos? So mies kann die 3. Staffel doch auf keinen Fall sein oder?

Ich kenne zwar erst ein paar Folgen der dritten Staffel, aber ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, dass sie mich nicht überzeugen können. Würde ich OC noch nocht kennen und bei der dritten Staffel einschalten, weiß ich nicht, ob ich noch Lust hätte weiterzugucken. Man hat einfach das Gefühl, dass den Autoren keine spannende Storyline mehr einfällt und sie sich einfach willkürlich etwas einfallen lassen, was meiner Meinung nach überhaupt nicht zu der Geschichte passt. Sehr schade, wenn man bedenkt, dass die Serie am Anfang so viel Potenzial hatte und die Autoren sich anscheinend schon bei der ersten Staffel ausgetobt haben...

Oh man dieser Artikel hrt sich ja echt gerade gut an. Ich hoffe die Serie geht weiter. Auch wenn die Storylines schwächer geworden sind und mehr in Richtung Soap-Opera, ich finde sie immer noch sehr gut und sie ist meine Lieblingsserie. Es wäre echt sehr schade, wenn ich die geilsten Sprüche vermissen müsste und natürlich Adam und Rachel als Paar

Hab mir letztens noch mal ein paar Lieder der ersten Staffel angehört und hatte da so n richtiges "Gänsehaut"-Feeling, so nach dem Motto "Ja, die guten alten Zeiten"... Abwarten...

aber mich langweilt das ganze langsam, wollen die jetzt 6. Seasons machen darüber, das sich Ryan und Marissa trennen? ^^
Dann jedes mal das selbe so zu sagen nur das halt wer anderes sowas änhliches macht.
Die sollen mal was neues bringen, so brauchen sie sich nicht zu wundern wenn es bald keiner mehr guckt =(

The creator of the sunny teen drama wants it to have soul, writes Debi Enker.
WITH its beautiful beaches, lavish houses and sunny skies, Orange County might look like a little slice of heaven. But things are rarely peaceful or serene in The O.C. It’s a veritable hotbed of unsavoury activity. There’s alcoholism and adultery, there are attempted rapes and shootings, there’s a covert class war simmering and many of the good folk of the county are busy conniving for a good proportion of their waking lives. In this sun-blessed and bountiful enclave, no one stays happy for long.
This world created by Josh Schwartz has the familiar trapping of a prime-time soap: the domestic dramas, the relationship woes, the miscommunications and misunderstandings.
But the 29-year-old writer and producer has transported them into a fresh TV setting, one that exploits a stretch of the California coast previously untapped by series television. After two seasons that made stars of its cast and a selling-point of its music selections, Schwartz’s soapie baby has grown up, although, as it moves into its third season, some things change while others remain the same.
Grasping villainess Julie Cooper-Nichol (Melinda Clarke) continues to plot and scheme in a doomed quest to turn her dysfunctional clan into a “normal family”.
Her elder daughter, Marissa (Mischa Barton), a continually troubled beauty, seems destined to be sad and unable to hook up, for any meaningful period of time, with her soul mate, Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie), the brooding hunk who relocated from the wrong side of town.
Meanwhile, the show’s rock-solid foundation, Sandy and Kirsten Cohen (Peter Gallagher and Kelly Rowan), have endured a rocky patch and seem set to reunite and once again form the warm heart of the Newport Beach community - if Kirsten can just move beyond rehab.
As he reflects on the show’s second season and spruiks the third, Schwartz sounds a lot like Seth (Adam Brody), the clever, comic-book-loving teenaged Cohen.
“I think that last season we got to go in a lot of interesting directions,” says Schwartz.
“The second half of the season was particularly effective because we weren’t afraid to go darker on some storylines, which surprised people. We took some chances in season two, which I’m really proud of.
“Seeing some trouble in Sandy and Kirsten’s relationship infuriated a lot of people. But I think we went into hallowed ground there and we weren’t afraid to poke it with a stick and look at it from a different direction, and find that even in a loving relationship, not everything is perfect.”
A keen salesman for his show, Schwartz believes that “season three is the most consistent season we’ve had creatively” and promises action aplenty.
While understanding that he’s working with a soapie formula, there are two basic elements that he holds dear in relation to The O.C. The first is that even the nastiest characters are given the space to show their softer sides - including the dreaded Julie Cooper-Nichol - so viewers can understand the reasons for their bad behaviour.
The second is that the show balances its melodrama with humour and avoids the earnest moralising that has been a staple of soaps in the past: “We want an interplay of comedy and drama, darkness and light,” he says.
Schwartz is also aware that as the series moves on, characters that viewers hold dear might behave in ways that they don’t like, and that some storylines will work better than others.
“We’re not saving people in hospital or putting people in a police station,” he reasons. “With a serialised drama, some things are going to be more successful than others, some storylines are going to really work for people and others aren’t. Certain characters are going to pop and others aren’t.
“With the amount of episodes that we do and the speed at which we burn through stories, it’s just the math of it all: certain things are going to work better for audiences than others. We want everything to be awesome, we want every episode to be perfect, but it’s not in the nature of television for that to be the case. So we’re just hopin’ to get it right more often than not. I think that in the second half of season two, it all jelled.”
In terms of places that the third season might go, prepare for “the return of a much-loved character from the first series”, more troubles in Casa Cohen and a change to the Cooper clan.
As to places that The O.C. won’t be going, Schwartz says with a chuckle, “I don’t think that you’ll ever see Ryan and Seth getting romantic. But I think that the fun of our show is that anything goes. I don’t feel like there’s anything that we shouldn’t do and if there’s something that it feels like we shouldn’t do, I’m probably more compelled to try to do it.”
As the youngest person to have created a show for American network television, Schwartz is enthusiastic about his series and pragmatic about the realities of keeping it on the air: “We need to keep the show on the edge and keep you coming back for more, but never let the incidents eclipse the characters.
“Viewers need to feel that there’s a heart to the show. If the show has soul, then we can get away with as much over-the-top melodrama as is necessary to survive on network television.”
